HAZARD (1-25-2010) –Kentucky River Properties, LLC, has pledged $500,000 to the Operation UNITE Foundation over the next five years to provide substance abuse treatment.

Sixteen elementary schools in eight Eastern Kentucky counties are receiving additional assistance during the 2009-10 school year through Operation UNITE’s Service Corps.

Nine schools were honored with Excellence Awards for being named UNITE Clubs of the Year during the regional Operation UNITE "Piercing the Darkness of Drugs" Youth Summits held September 15-18, 2009.

More than 6,500 students from 136 schools in 29 counties attended one of three Operation UNITE’s “Piercing the Darkness of Drugs” Youth Summit held September 15-17, 2009, in Hazard, Somerset and Prestonsburg.

FRANKFORT, KY (9-30-09) – The rate of prescriptions dispensed for controlled substances increased in 118 of Kentucky’s 120 counties between 2005 and 2007, according to a recent report of the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, and five Kentucky counties – Clinton, Magoffin, Whitley, Bell and Owsley – averaged more than four controlled substance prescriptions dispensed per resident.

MONTICELLO (6-10-09) – By saving their pennies and waste aluminum cans students at Monticello Elementary School were able to collect $350 for drug recovery efforts in the region.

MT VERNON (6-1-09) – Operation UNITE has teamed up with former University of Kentucky standouts Tim Couch and Craig Yeast to offer two regional “Tackling Drugs” football skills camps for students in grades 7-12.

Mt. VERNON (5-28-09) – For the second year in a row, Mt. Vernon Elementary School’s UNITE Club has been honored as Operation UNITE’s top elementary school anti-drug club.

WHITESBURG (5-29-09) – Whitesburg Middle School’s UNITE Club was honored as Operation UNITE’s top middle school anti-drug club for the 2007-08 school year.

SOMERSET (5-22-09) – Pulaski County High School’s UNITE Club was honored as Operation UNITE’s top high school anti-drug club for the 2007-08 school year.
