Operation UNITE : Unlawful Narcotics Investigation Treatment and Education

Mission Statement
Operation UNITE works to rid communities of illegal drug use through undercover narcotics investigations, coordinates treatment for substance abusers, provides support to families and friends of substance abusers, and educates the public about the dangers of using drugs. UNITE’s goal is to educate and activate individuals, by developing and empowering community coalitions, to no longer accept or tolerate the drug culture.

  • Operation UNITE has received a $126,000 AmeriCorps state grant to add 10 service corps members at schools in Eastern Kentucky. UNITE was one of 49 organizations to receive funding in the nationwide competition after being nominated by governor-appointed state service commissions. To read story click here. (Posted 5-28-08)

  • UNITE has entered the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Faith-Based and Community Initiatives "Portraits of Compassion" video story contest for 2008 featuring Clay and McCreary counties. To view video entry click here. (Posted 5-19-08)

  • Rockcastle County Middle School's UNITE Club has issued a challenge to all UNITE Clubs: "Go the Extra Mile for UNITE" by raising at least 1 mile of pennies. The "Miles of Pennies" campaign will be used to assist those seeking treatment but cannot otherwise afford it. It takes 84,480 pennies laid out end to end to make a mile. That's $844.80. If each of the current 121 clubs raises a mile it will generate $102,220.80! The challenge is on. For details contact Nancy Hale at nancy.hale@rockcastle.kyschools.us

Launched in April 2003 by Fifth District Congressman Harold “Hal” Rogers, Operation UNITE serves 29 counties in southern and eastern Kentucky. The district is divided into five coalition service regions. Every county has at least one UNITE coalition.
