2007 Activities
Tuesday, August 28 - Perry County Drug Court held a standing-room-only graduation ceremony for eight participants at the Perry County Justice Center Circuit Courtroom. Guest speaker was Congressman Hal Rogers.
Monday, August 6 - An informational program about the dangers of substance abuse was conducted for elementary students at Robinson Elementary School.
Wednesday, July 25 - A methamphetamine awareness class was presented to approximately 15 membersw of the Kentucky River Health Department at the Rural Law Enforcement Technology Center in Hazard.
Friday, June 1 - A 3-on-3 Dare To Be Drug Free Basketball tournament featuring University of Kentucky basketball player J.P. Blevins was held at the John C. Combs Gymnasium. To view photos click here.
Tuesday, May 8 - Operation UNITE had a display and presented a workshop on "The Effects of Drugs on the Community" at the EKCEPT Economic Summit at the First Federal Center on the campus of Hazard Community College.
Saturday, March 31 - Perry County UNITE Drug Court participants assisted in the annual Buckhorn Lake clean-up and was responsible for collecting 402 bags of garbate..

Friday, March 30 - Appriximately 70 members of the HOFNOD Club at Perry County High participated in an aquatic education program in Frankfort.
Thursday, March 29 - The Perry County UNITE Drug Court held a graduation program for two participants in the Perry County Justice Center.

Tuesday, November 28 - More than 50 people attended a free health fair was held on the Hazard Community and Technical College Hazard Campus. Students and faculty had an opportunity to access health information and assessments of cholesterol, blood sugar and body fat index, as well as drug education information.
Monday, November 20 - A meeting to discuss the formation of a Neighbors UNITED group in the Busy and Yerkes communities was held at Willard Elementary School. For information contact Elizabeth Wilson at 606-330-1400 or ewilson@centertech.com.
Monday, November 13 - A presentation on "How to Keep Your Kids off of Drugs" was presented at Willard Elementary School.
October - Perry County Drug Court participants performed 937 hours of community service with the PRIDE organization during the month. Partnering with Housing Alliance, participants spent six hours in a "house raising" event.
Monday, October 30 - Anti-drug rallies were conducted by former University of Kentucky basketball star Jeff Sheppard at Leatherwood Elementary and Viper Elementary.
Monday, October 23 - A Red Ribbon Week presentation on the dangers of drugs was given to approximately 150 fourth- through eighth-grade students at Viper Elementary School.
Monday, October 23 - Anti-drug rallies were conducted by former University of Kentucky basketball star Jeff Sheppard at Perry Central High School, Hazard High School, and A.B. Combs Elementary.
Friday, October 20 - Approximately 50 residents in the Busy and Yerkes areas of Perry County participated in a community meeting at Willard Elementary School as a follow-up to recent law enforcement actions against drug dealers.
Saturday, October 7 - Grandparents raising grandchildren due to drug-addicted parents held an event at Perry County Park that drew approximately 100 children and 40-50 families.

Monday, April 24 – UNITE coalition networking reception at Hazard Community and Technical College, Perry County, for the Kentucky River coalitions. One of five regional receptions.
Thursday, April 20 – Perry County Political Stump and fish fry held at the City of Hazard Amphitheater.
Thursday, April 13 – Career day program on drugs presented at Roy G. Eversole Middle School for sixth- and seventh-grade students.
Friday, March 24 – “Keeping Up The Fight: A Community Moves Forward With Drug Enforcement, Education & Treatment” drug forum with Dr. Patrick Sammons at Hazard Community and Technical College. Approximately 170 people attended this campus coalition-sponsored event. The coalition was able to provide a high quality drug education opportunity to students, staff and area professionals. The event also provided 4.75 CEUs for social workers and psychologists.
