  • Thursday, October 18 - An undercover investigation by Operation UNITE into drug dealing in Owsley County resulted in 23 indictment warrants and a roundup of the suspects. To read story click here.

  • Sunday, September 23 - A Recovery Rally to raise awareness about the importance of substance abuse programs was held in the parking lot of the Owsley County Action Team office in Booneville. For details click here. For photos click here.

  • Thursday, August 23 - Lee and Owsley County Drug Court held a graduation ceremony for two participants at the Lee County Courthouse. Guest speaker was Chief Justice Will T. Scott.

  • Saturday, May 19 - The Lee and Owsley County Drug Court programs held a "Partnering For Recovery" program at Happy Top Recreational park in Beattyville. Event featured live entertainment by Tasha Wilder, Ian Noe and T.J. Howard. For information contact Wilma Spicer, 606-464-2102 or wilmaspicer@kycourts.net.

  • Thursday, April 5 - Owsley County Anti-Drug Coalition meeting at the Action Team office.

  • Wednesday, April 4 - A Spring Fling featuring an Easter egg hunt and fun activities for children ages 1-10 was held at Owsley County Park by the Owsley County Anti-Drug Council and Christian Appalachian Project.

  • Thursday, November 16 -- Inspirational speaker David Parnell (who was featured in the “Meth Is Death” video that is available from the UNITE Resource Library) appeared at Owsley County High School cafeteria. Approximately 337 people were given a detailed look at the effects that meth use can have on their body.

  • Saturday, November 4 - Operation UNITE Soccer Tournament sponsored by U.S. Soccer Foundation featuring teams from Breathitt, Lee, Owsley and Wolfe counties at Douthitt Park in the City of Jackson (Breathitt County). For details click here. For pictures click here.

  • Friday, November 3 -- A "Cruising Not Using" rally from Booneville to Beattyville was held in support the war against drugs. For details click here.

  • Friday, November 3 -- The Owsley County Anti-Drug Council held a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the Owsley County Action Place in Booneville. For information contact Jo'e Lightner at 606-593-7296 or jlightner@owsleycountykentucky.org.

  • Friday, October 27 - Approximately 22 juniors and seniors from Owsley County visited the Lees College Campus Hazard Community and Technical College for a science trip. A UNITE table was set up to showcase the coalition on campus. Students were given anti-drug brochures. To view pictures click here.

  • Thursday, October 26 - Reclaiming Futures conducted a coalition appreciation event for groups that are working with and helping youth at Owsley County High School.

  • Friday-Sunday, October 20-22 - Lee-Owsley Drug Court participants conducted activities in conjunction with the Wooly Worm Festival in Beattyville.

  • Friday, October 13 - Lee/Owsley Drug Court had three participants graduate.

  • Tuesday, September 26 - A meth lab awareness class was presented at the Booneville Fire Department for all firefighters, EMS and law enforcement personnel.

  • Monday, September 25 - Reformers Unanymous founder Steve Currington spoke to the community on the dangers from addiction, recovery, treatment and family support. Testimonies from young adults who were addicted as teenagers were presented.

  • Monday, August 15 - Jeff Sheppard presents an anti-drug program at Owsley County Elementary School and at Owsley County High School.

  • Saturday, July 15 - Hooked On Fishing-Not On Drugs at Owsley County Elementary School. For details click here.

  • June – Regional Shoot Hoops Not Drugs Basketball Camps with Jeff Sheppard. For details click here.

  • Thursday, May 25 - A presentation about UNITE and the economic impact of drugs was presented to leaders from Breathitt, Lee, Owsley and Wolfe counties at the Lee County Community Center.

  • Saturday, May 20 – Lee/Owsley Drug Court participants planted flowers for the three Forks Historical Center.

  • Thursday, May 11 – A candidates forum was held at Owsley County High Shool.

  • Monday, April 18 – UNITE coalition networking reception at the Manchester Baptist Church, Clay County, for the Cumberland Valley coalitions. One of five regional receptions.
