2007 Activities
Tuesday, October 30 - "Drugs are a Trick, Not a Treat" event at Old Mill Park. More than 1,000 people stopped by. For details click here.
Friday, October 26 - A Neighborhood Watch training was held at Ezel School.
Sunday-Saturday, October 21-27 - "Paint Morgan County Red Against Drugs." Local businesses, civic groups, churches, law enforcement and government officials provided different activities with the schools as part of National Red Ribbon Week. The whole county was asked to "Plant the Promise" by planting tulips or putting red ribbons on all mailboxes or homes. In all 1,500 bulbs were planted.
Monday, October 15 - UNITE presented a program on methamphetamine and prescription drugs to EMTs, ambulance service workers and other emergency responders at the Morgan County UK Technology Center.
Wednesday, October 3 - Monthly meeting of KY ASAP, Champions and UNITE coalition, noon, at the community center conference room. UNITE put the final touches on the Red Ribbon "Plant the Promise" for the schools, "Paint Morgan County Red Against Drugs," and "Drugs are a Trick, Not a Treat" projects. June-August - Every Tuesday there was free Summer Swim program at the Kiwanis Pool in West Liberty from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Up to 90 people attended each swim, many for their first time ever swimming. The program was sponsored by the Morgan County Community Center, Kiwanis Club, and Operation UNITE. A Family Safe Night was held July 14. For more information click here.

Friday, June 8 - Morgan County UNITE Coalition met at the MSU center in West Liberty.
Tuesday, June 5 to Saturday, June 16 - Approximately 120 youth were involved with the Hooked On Fishing-Not On Drugs program in Morgan County during the summer. The students worked as a team making fishing lures and actually fishing. To view photos click here.
Friday, May 4 - A Drug Endangered Children (DEC) Network training class was held the Carl Perkins Center in Morehead for coalitions in UNITE’s Gateway service region. The training provided details on how to deal with issues related to children who come from homes where drugs are present.
Saturday, April 28 - Former UK basketball stand-out Cameron Mills held a one night Youth and Church Crusade at Morgan County High School. The event was sponsored by the Morgan County Ministerial Association and Morgan County UNITE Coalition.

Tuesday, March 13 - For the third year the coalition participated in the annual Farm-Home-Family Night event sponsored by the Morgan County Cooperative Extension Service and various community and service organizations. For details click here.
Friday, March 2 - The Morgan County ASAP, Champions and UNITE coalition meeting were held at the MSU Center in West Liberty.
Tuesday, February 13 - Morgan County held its first Lifeline meeting with 12 people in attendance. Tim Rhodes from Rowan County was the guest speaker. For information contact Sharon Tharp at 606-743-4128 or morunite@mrtc.com.

Tuesday, November 28 - The Morgan County UNITE Coalition part6icipated in a community health fair sponsored by the Appalachian Regional Hospital and Morgan County Board of Education at Wrigley Elementary School. Various drug education and awareness programs along with other information from other community organizations was provided.
Thursday, November 16 - Morgan County UNITE Coalition participated in a community health fair sponsored by the Appalachian Regional Hospital and Morgan County Board of Education at Ezel Elementary School. Various drug education and awareness programs along with other information from other community organizations was provided.
Tuesday, November 14 - Morgan County UNITE Coalition participated in a community health fair sponsored by the Appalachian Regional Hospital and Morgan County Board of Education at Cannel City Elementary School. Various drug education and awareness programs along with other information from other community organizations was provided.
Thursday, November 9 - Morgan County UNITE Coalition participated in a community health fair sponsored by the Appalachian Regional Hospital and Morgan County Board of Education at East Valley Elementary School. Various drug education and awareness programs along with other information from other community organizations was provided.
Tuesday, October 31 - The second "Drugs are a Trick and Not a Treat" family event at Old Mill Park in West Liberty drew an estimated 2,000 adults and children. Prevention materials were distributed. The Dollar General Store co-sponsored the event by asking customers to support the prevention program. More than 3,000 pieces of candy were donated. Many community agencies also contributed to the event's success, including local fire, police and ambulance services. To view pictures click here.
Sunday, October 29 - Approximately 100 people participated in a coalition-sponsored prayer vigil at the MSU Center in West Liberty. For details click here. To view pictures click here.
October 20-24 - Students in the Rowan County public and private schools, along with county residents, placed ribbons throughout the county in support of Red Ribbon Week.
September - Every student in the Rowan County school system participated in back-to-school activities. Approximately 2,700 students were involved in these hands-on, visual and auditory programs to teach about the dangers of substance abuse in a non-threatening manner.
Tuesday, August 29 - Neighbors UNITED presentation at the Morgan County Convention Center.

Saturday, July 29 - Free Shoot Hoops Not Drugs regional basketball camp with Jeff Sheppard at Morehead State University. Camp was attended by 114 participants from 10 Kentucky counties plus one from Ohio. To view photos click here.
Monday, July 24 - Meth lab dangers and identification presentation to emergency personnel at the regional training center in West Liberty.
Tuesday, April 25 – UNITE coalition networking reception at the Old Government Building in West Liberty for the Gateway coalitions. One of five regional receptions.
Friday, April 21 – Varies agencies received prescription drug and club drug training at the Morgan County Community Center.
Thursday, April 20 – An Empowered Community Exchange presentation featuring Congressman Hal Rogers Morehead Conference Center in conjunction with the New Cities Initiative. To view pictures click here.
