    2007 Activities
  • Wednesday, October 31 - A "Trick or Treat on Main Street" program was hosted by the Lee County PEP Coalition. Treats, games and fun for the whole family in downtown Beattyville by the Wolly Worm Barn.

  • Thursday, October 11 - The Lexington Children's Theater performed the popular play "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" at the Lee County High School auditorium.

  • Saturday, September 22 - A writers workshop was held at Lee County High School.

  • Saturday, September 8 - A free Christian concert featuring the Robbie Seay Band, Brandon Heath and Live Fish was held at the Kiwanis Park Amphitheater at Happy Top in Beattyville. For details click here. To view photos click here.

  • Thursday, August 23 - Lee and Owsley County Drug Court held a graduation ceremony for two participants at the Lee County Courthouse. Guest speaker was Chief Justice Will T. Scott.

  • Wednesday, July 25 - A training for bus drivers and staff at Lee County Head Start on new drugs and what to look for was presented. For information contact Kim Dunaway at 606-668-7879 or 606-668-7111.

  • Sunday, June 24 - A "March For Jesus, Not Drugs" was held in Beattyville. City and county police escorted the group from the old depot to the Lee County Courthouse. Event was organized by the Lee County Ministerial Association. Speakers included Pastor Jack Short of the Faith United Methodist Church and New Spring Methodist Church, Tracy Hensley from WYMT-TV, and a UNITE representative. For information contact Rev.   • Saturday, May 19 - The Lee and Owsley County Drug Court programs held a "Partnering For Recovery" program at Happy Top Recreational park in Beattyville. Event featured live entertainment by Tasha Wilder, Ian Noe and T.J. Howard. For information contact Wilma Spicer, 606-464-2102 or wilmaspicer@kycourts.net.

  • Monday, March 19 - Former UK basketball star Jeff Sheppard held a mini basketball camp at Southside Elementary School. The event included a presentation about the importance of school and staying away from drugs and a chili supper.

  • Friday, February 16 - Lee County ASAP hosted a three-hour prescription drug abuse presentation at the PEP building in Beattyville. The event was attended by approximately 20 people.

  • Monday, January 29 - PEP Coalition meeting to discuss proposals for the first funding cycle of the 2007 UNITE allocations. For information contact Dustin Adams at 606-464-0494 or dadams@centernetwork.net.

  • Saturday, November 4 - Operation UNITE Soccer Tournament sponsored by U.S. Soccer Foundation featuring teams from Breathitt, Lee, Owsley and Wolfe counties at Douthitt Park in the City of Jackson (Breathitt County). For details click here. For pictures click here.

  • Friday, November 3 -- "Cruising Not Using" rally from Booneville to Beattyville in support the war against drugs. For details click here.

  • Friday-Sunday, October 20-22 - Lee-Owsley Drug Court participants conduct activities in conjunction with the Wooly Worm Festival in Beattyville.

  • Friday, October 13 - Lee/Owsley Drug Court had three participants graduate.

  • Saturday, June 10 – Regional Shoot Hoops Not Drugs Basketball Camp with Jeff Sheppard at Lee County High School. For details click here.

  • Thursday, May 25 - A presentation about UNITE and the economic impact of drugs was presented to leaders from Breathitt, Lee, Owsley and Wolfe counties at the Lee County Community Center.

  • Saturday, May 20 – Lee/Owsley Drug Court participants planted flowers for the three Forks Historical Center.

  • Monday, March 20 – Jeff Sheppard conducts anti-drug rallies at Southside Elementary, Beattyville Elementary and Lee County Middle schools.

  • Monday, April 18 – UNITE coalition networking reception at the Manchester Baptist Church, Clay County, for the Cumberland Valley coalitions. One of five regional receptions.
