  • Wednesday, April 2 - A drugs in the community and prescription drug presentation was given at the London-Laurel YMCA gym on Fifth Street. For information contact Phyllis Miller with KY River Foothills Head Start at 606-877-6342.

  • Monday, March 31 - We need U to uNITE Corbin. The Corbin Area UNITE Group recruitment dinner was held at the Grace on the Hill Church. Food was provided along with a silent auction. Guest speaker was former University of Kentucky football player Jeff Sheppard.

  • Friday, March 28 - Drug awareness information was provided to students at East Bernstadt School during the sixth annual Arts & Crafts Fair in the school gymnasium. For more information about the event contact Penny Bailey at 606-843-2400 or penny.bailey@ebernstadt.kyschools.us.

  • Friday, March 28 - UNITE Deputy Law Enforcement Director Paul Hays spoke at Somerset Community College's Criminal Justice Day event held at the Laurel Campus, North. For more information contact Jenny Martin or Terry Taylor at 606-878-4649.

  • Wednesday, March 26 - UNITE present three drug awareness trainings to employees at Northern Contours in Corbin. For details contact Melissa Taylor at 606-523-5747.

  • Wednesday, February 27 - UNITE provided information for parents on drug abuse and its effects at the London YMCA. For information contact Missy at 606-864-2343.

  • Wednesday, January 16 - UNITE Treatment Director Clinton Hammack spoke to the London-Laurel County Rotary Club regarding substance abuse treatment options.

  • Tuesday, December 4 - UNITE representatives discussed drug awareness, positive activities and positive role models during the Fall Festival Bash held at the London-Laurel County YMCA.

  • Tuesday, November 6 - The Laurel County Juvenile Drug Court held a graduation ceremony.

  • Tuesday, October 23 - Nearly half of those sought in the latest Operation UNITE drug roundup were caught using a new tool that electronically monitors sales of a key ingredient used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. To read story click here. More arrests made. Click here for story.

  • Monday-Friday, October 22-26 - Coalition members delivered tulip bulbs to be planted at each school in honor of Red Ribbon week.

  • Saturday, October 6 - A Hooked On Fishing, Not On Drugs program was held at Heritage Park (Tourist and Convention Bureau Pond) located off Falls Road in London. Speakers included UNITE President/CEO Karen Engle. For details click here.

  • Monday-Tuesday, September 24-25 - A Hooked On Fishing, Not On Drugs program was held at Grace On The Hill United Methodist Church in Corbin.

  • Tuesday, September 11 - The Knox/Laurel Juvenile Drug Court program held a graduation ceremony at the Laurel County Courthouse.

  • Tuesday, July 17 - A Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs program began and continued on July 31, August 14 and October 6. Approximately 50 youth were affected by this project.

  • Wednesday, July 18 - UNITE participated in a job fair at the Laurel County Day Treatment.

  • Friday, June 29 - Third annual Lifeline Golf Scramble at Crooked Creek Golf Club in Laurel County.

  • Thursday, June 21 -- UNITE Executive Director Karen Engle spoke to the Corbin Rotary Club at noon at David's Steakhouse.

  • Tuesday, June 5 - The Laurel County UNITE Coalition held a recruitment dinner at the London Community Center. We had a good turnout and were able to get new people involved with the coalition and the committees.

  • Saturday, June 2 - A free Hooked On Fishing-Not On Drugs training class was conducted from at the YMCA in London. For information contact Darlys Warren at 606-862-4719.

  • Thursday, May 24 - A meth training was provided to staff at the Laurel County Health Department.

  • Tuesday, May 22 - The Laurel County Juvenile Drug Court held graduation ceremonies for one participant in the Laurel District Courtroom, Annex 1.

  • Saturday, May 5 - The Laurel County Coalition assisted with Project Prom at North Laurel High School. Approximately 40-45 people were affected. The purpose of the project was to get the word to students about UNITE and that the school supports a drug-free lifestyle.

  • Friday, April 20 - A presentation on community coalition building was given to participants in Leadership Tri-County's Communications Day at the Laurel County Courthouse community room.

  • Wednesday, April 18 - Operation UNITE hosted a free "How To Drug Proof Your Kids" regional training in London.

  • Friday-Saturday, March 30-31 - "Sharing the Hope" Youth Rally at South Laurel Middle School. Steve Maley and the Kevin Rice Band performed.

  • Thursday, March 29 - Third Annual Career and College Expo at Somerset Community College Laurel Campus South in London.

  • Saturday, February 10 - A presentation on UNITE, drugs in the community and how churches can become involved was presented to approximately 40 people at the Greater Life Fellowship on American Greeting Road in Corbin.

  • Thursday, February 8 - A presentation on the effects of methamphetamine on the community and what can be done about this problem was presented to students at Somerset Community and Technical College's Laurel Campus.

  • Friday, December 15 - South Laurel Middle School UNITE Club distributed Christmas gifts and personal care products to students (ages 12-17) at Knox Appalachian School.

  • Wednesday, December 13 - Regular coalition meeting held at First Christian Church.

  • Monday, December 4 - Laurel County Juvenile Drug Court held its second graduation in the Laurel County District Courtroom followed by a reception.

  • Friday, December 1 - UNITE Club members from Laurel County Middle and High schools entered a float in the Christmas on Main parade entitled "Rally With Us Against Drug Abuse."

  • Tuesday, November 28 - Laurel County Coalition Fall Festival at the YMCA featuring former UK basketball star Jeff Sheppard. Event affected approximately 45 people and brightened Christmas for 23 children who have had at least one parent in jail.

  • Monday, November 27 - Drug testing training with attorney Tim Crawford was held at the Laurel County Public LIbrary.

  • Monday, November 27 - Former UK basketball star Jeff Sheppard presented an anti-drug presentation to East Bernstadt Independent School.

  • Thursday, October 26 - A presentation for parents on the Drug Endangered Child network and methamphetamine was held at North Laurel High School. For information call Martha Breeding at 606-862-4699.

  • Thursday, October 26 - A presentation on drug awareness was made to approximately 150 students in grades 6-8 at East Bernstadt Independent School.

  • Tuesday, October 24 - Ken Freeman spoke to students at North Laurel Middle School, freshmen at North Laurel High School and 8th grade students from East Bernstadt Independent School.

  • Monday, October 23 - Ken Freeman spoke to approximately 1,500 students at South Laurel Middle School and South Laurel High School as part of Red Ribbon Week. Freeman is a motivational speaker who focuses on how drugs can destroy your life.

  • Monday-Friday, October 23-27 - An anti-drug poster and billboard contest was held during Red Ribbon Week at both North and South Laurel Middle Schools. Hundreds of students from five schools participated in an "I Pledge To Be Drug-Free" banner project. For information call Martha Breeding at 606-862-4699.

  • Tuesday, October 17 - A presentation on meth and meth labs was presented to the PTO at East Bernstadt Independent Schools.

  • Thursday-Sunday, September 21-24 - Laurel County UNITE Coalition had a booth at the World Chicken Feestival to provide educational materials and information about illegal drugs.

  • Thursday, September 21 - Christian concert featuring Seventh Day Slumber, Last Tuesday and Brotha Tone at the First Baptist Church of London. For details click here.

  • Saturday, September 16 - Motorcycle ride-in to Whayne Supply Company's "Ride Against Drugs" and CAT racecar appearance at Perry County Park. For details click here. To view pictures click here.

  • Tuesday, August 8 - Coalition information booths were set up at back-to-school nights at North Laurel Middle, North Laurel High, South Laurel Middle and South Laurel High.

  • Monday, August 7 - Coalition information booths were set up at back-to-school nights at North Laurel Middle, South Laurel Middle and East Bernstadt School.

  • June – Regional Shoot Hoops Not Drugs Basketball Camps with Jeff Sheppard. For details click here.

  • Wednesday, June 14 - Laurel County UNITE Coalition special meeting at the Laurel County Public Library.

  • Tuesday, June 6 – A meeting to present an overview of Operation UNITE for new coalition members and the public will be held at the Laurel County Public Library. The meeting was attended by approximately 60 people.

  • Monday, June 5 - A presentation on meth labs and recognizing the warning signs was conducted for bus drivers and monitors at the North Laurel High School auditorium.

  • Friday, June 2 – Lifeline of Eastern Kentucky second annual golf scramble at Crooked Creek Golf Club. A total of 16 teams and 20 sponsors netted approximately $8,000. For details click here.

  • Tuesday, May 23 – A program on Neighbors UNITED was presented at the Cumberland Valley Area Development District in London for churches, seniors, community leaders and law enforcement personnel.

  • Friday, May 19 -- A Court Watch program was presented to the Laurel County Retired Teachers Association in the Fellowship Hall of First Christian Church.

  • Wednesday-Thursday, May 17-18 - Approximately 680 sixth-grade students at North and South Laurel Middle Schools participted in an educational puppet show about drugs and drug abuse.

  • Monday, May 1 – UNITE coalition networking reception at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset, Pulaski County, for Lake Cumberland coalitions. One of five regional receptions.

  • Tuesday, April 11 – Childcare providers training London Community Center.

  • Wednesday, March 29 – Career & College Expo at Somerset Community College Laurel South Campus.

  • Wednesday, March 22 – Coalition members heard a presentation from John Becknell about designing and implementing a Court Watch program and discussed how coalitions can overcome obstacles.

  • Saturday, March 11 – A training session for Lifeline facilitators and volunteers was conducted in London. Eight ministers were present.
