Recent Activities
  • Wednesday, January 24 - Former UK basketball star Jeff Sheppard shared his secrets to success with approximately 150 Breathitt County students during an anti-drug presentation at the Lees College Campus. Schools represented were Mt. Carmel High, Riverside Christian, Jackson City, Oakdale Christian Academy and CLEP. To view photos click here.

  • The 2006 Kids Christmas Festival at Lees College Campus was a huge success, with approximately 72 people from Letcher, Breathitt, Lee and Owsley counties. The children were greeted by two of Santa's helpers before going to a room filled with magic, juggling, singing, refreshments and much more. The dorm students provided caroling. Students then visited Santa and Misses Claus where pictures were taken. For pictures click here.

  • Thursday, December 21 - Former UK basketball star Jeff Sheppard held an anti-drug program to students at the Sewell Center in Jackson.

  • Saturday, November 4 - Operation UNITE Soccer Tournament sponsored by U.S. Soccer Foundation featuring teams from Breathitt, Lee, Owsley and Wolfe counties at Douthitt Park in the City of Jackson (Breathitt County). For details click here. For pictures click here.

  • October - Lees Campus Haunted House hosted by the Lees Campus UNITEd Coalition and the Residence Life Club. More than 20 students, staff and community members came together to make this event possible. There were more than 300 people from Breathitt and surrounding counties go through. All children ages 13 and under received a free treat bag filled with goodies and an anti-drug message..

  • Friday, October 27 - Approximately 22 juniors and seniors from Owsley County visited the Lees College Campus Hazard Community and Technical College for a science trip. A UNITE table was set up to showcase the coalition on campus. Students were given anti-drug brochures. To view pictures click here.

  • Friday-Sunday, October 6-7 - Breathitt Heritage Fair at Douthitt Park in Jackson.

  • Wednesday, September 13 - Lees Campus UNITEd Lazer tag event in Jackson. To view pictures click here.

  • June/July – Weekly movie night at Douthitt Park.

  • June – Regional Shoot Hoops Not Drugs Basketball Camps with Jeff Sheppard. For details click here.

  • Thursday, May 25 - A presentation about UNITE and the economic impact of drugs was presented to leaders from Breathitt, Lee, Owsley and Wolfe counties at the Lee County Community Center.

  • Tuesday, April 25 – Approximately 150 people were impacted by a rally at Lees Campus to raise awareness about the coalition’s activities. The event was held on the lawn in front of Jackson Hall. To view photos click here.

  • Monday, April 24 – UNITE coalition networking reception at Hazard Community and Technical College, Perry County, for the Kentucky River coalitions. One of five regional receptions.

  • Tuesday, March 14 – Family farm and home night.

  • Tuesday, February 28 – Hooked On Fishing-Not On Drugs training at the Life Skills Center in Jackson.

  • A special Valentine’s Day project was used to educate the youth. Middle school students will receive a small box of candy that contains anti-drug information. To view photos click here.
