UNITE Activities
The Lees Campus UNITE Coalition sponsored essay and poster contests for all sixth-grade students in Breathitt County.

The Breathitt coalition has focused their efforts on providing activities and educational efforts for the youth of the county and the general public.
Currently one Breathitt County school has a registered UNITE Club – Breathitt County High.
Support continues for the Drug Court program by offering gifts and incentives to participants.
Breathitt County is participating in a youth soccer program in conjunction with the U.S. Soccer Foundation and UNITE in Wolfe, Owsley and Lee counties.
Tuesday, May 13 - A presentation on prescription and over-the-counter drug abuse will be given to members of the Breathitt County UNITE Coalition and concerned citizens, 6 p.m. at the Life Skills Center in Jackson (Breathitt County). For information contact Karen Bunn at 606-666-7795.
Tuesday, May 20 - The Breathitt-Wolfe Drug Court will hold a graduation ceremony at 1 p.m. on the third floor of the Breathitt County Judicial Center in Jackson.

Friday, December 21 - UNITE Law Enforcement Director Dan Smoot will be the guest speaker at a graduation ceremony for the Juvenile Boot Camp, 11:30 a.m. For details contact Nan Herald at 606-295-2272.
Tuesday, November 27 - A presentation on prescription and over-the-counter drug abuse was presented at the Life Skills Center. For details contact Karen Bunn at 606-666-7795.
Wednesday, November 7 - Nationally-known speaker and recovering methamphetamine addict David Parnell conducted a workshop at in the Van Meter Gymnasium on the HCTC Lees Campus. This workshop was sponsored by the Breathitt County ASAP, Breathitt UNITE Coalition, Cadet Leadership Education Program (CLEP) and HCTC Lees Campus UNITE Coalition.
Wednesday, September 26 - Lees Campus UNITE Coalition held a recruitment drive and Lazer Tag event for staff and students featuring anti-drug speakers. Monday, September 24 - Two members from both the Lees Campus and Breathitt County UNITE Coalitions attended a Hooked On Fishing-Not On Drugs training in Jackson. To view photo click here.
Wednesday, September 12 - Breathitt/Wolfe Drug Court program held their first graduation ceremony for one participant at noon in the Justice Center in Jackson.
Saturday, August 4 - A drug prevention and awareness presenetation was held at Douthitt Park Shelter #1 in the City of Jackson for those ages 9 and above. Sponsored by Helping Hands Christian Outreach, the program discussed what to do if you suspect there are drugs in your community. Tuesday, July 10 - Lees Campus Coalition meeting was held in the Smith Room of Jackson Hall. Nomination and election of officers for the upcoming school year, and a discussion about activities for the remainder of 2007 took place.
Monday, May 21 - UNITE presented a Prescription and Over-The-Counter Drug Abuse program for Breathitt County Coalition's "Families in the Know" project.
April - The Lees College Campus Student UNITE Coalition recently held a poster board contest for the sixth-grade classes in the Breathitt County School system as a way to get students and parents to communicate about the effects of drugs in the schools and community. All participating schools selected the top three finalists. These posters were then sent to Lees College for a final vote and were displayed in the lobby of Jackson Hall. The top three overall winners received an MP3 player and the overall winner will have their artwork on a billboard along KY 15. Winners were:
1st Place Morgan Phipps (LBJ School), 2nd Place Kimberly Barnett (MRC School), and 3rd Place Jennifer Riley (LBJ School).

Saturday, April 21 - The Lees College Campus Student UNITE Coalition held its first talent show on April 21. The event was a huge success, with approximately 150 people in attendance and 19 performers. The artists performed songs that ranged from gospel to rock. Although there were only three trophies to award, everyone was a winner. The overall winner was a local band called the Kentucky Players. Second place went to Ride the 75 and third place was Ian Noe from Lee County.

Saturday, April 7 - Despite cold temperatures, approximately 100 people attended the annual Easter Egg Hunt on the Lees College Campus. The children enjoyed playing the bunny hop, the Hokey-Pokey, and the cake walk in VanMeter Gymnasium. The event was sponsored by the Lees College Campus student UNITE coalition and Phi Theta Kappa.
