Operation UNITE is asking each of its coalitions to send representatives to Frankfort for a press conference with Gov. Ernie Fletcher in support of drug legislation now pending in the General Assembly.
Tentatively scheduled to speak are Justice Cabinet Secretary Brigadier General Norman E. Arflack, State Senator Dan Kelly (SB34), State Senator Ray Jones (SB67), State Senator Robert Stivers (SB88 & SB129), Attorney General Greg Stumbo (Internet Pharmacy), UNITE Executive Director Karen Engle, a parent/recovering addict, former Rhode Island Senator Tom Coderee (Faces & Voices of Recovery), and Gov. Fletcher.
Space limitations in the Capitol Rotunda limit us to 125 coalition volunteers, but we would like to have one carload per county. Those attending should RSVP to Cathy Lenox ASAP. (Contact information below.)
Those attending are asked to wear coalition shirts with a UNITE logo and the county you represent.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring small anti-drug posters and signs. No sign larger than poster-size and signs affixed to sticks ARE NOT allowed.
