UNITE Pike will be starting a "satellite" UNITE coalition in the Phelps/Freeburn area of Pike County. Because of Pike County's size, this will greatly enhance the efforts of UNITE Pike to initiate coalition involvement in the outlying communities.

During the meeting there will be a discussion of the UNITE mission and programs. Topics will include Neighbors UNITED, Court Watch, Hooked On Fishing-Not On Drugs, UNITE Club at Phelps High School, and Casey's Law. Phelps currently has an active Lifeline support program.

Currently 27 members of the community have registered to attend this initial session. Coalition officers will be elected and the need for committees discussed. Participants will be asked to sign up for a committee.

One goal of UNITE Pike is to have several smaller coalitions in outlying areas. All satellite coalitions will report to the UNITE Pike coordinator, and forms for this purpose have been developed.
