Description:

More than 600 students, teachers and parents attended a presentation by David Parnell (from "Meth is Death" video fame). Parnell, a recovering drug addict, knows first hand what damage methamphetamine can do to a person and their family. After all, there was a time in his life when meth had taken everything away from him and it also threatend to take his life.

After surviving a meth-inducted suicide attempt, David has now turned his life around for the better. He also wants to make life better for others. To do that he travels around the country speaking about the dangers of meth from personal experience.

In his PowerPoint program, David covered the history of meth, from its creation by Nazi Germany during World War II, to today's problems with abuse.

He covered the sometimes forgotten victims of meth use -- the children -- who often grow up in families and are often subject to physical, psychological and sexual abuse. And, there is the additional potential for exposure to toxic chemicals and the danger of an explosion.

David concluded the program by sharing his own personal experiences, starting with exposure to marijuana at age 13 by his father, the impact on his marriages and children, and bizarre and threatening behavior. The drug caused him to attempt suicide -- twice.

With the help of God he has recovered. Even though he has had to undergo more than 20 surgeries so far he has dedicated his life to traveling around to warn others not to go down the road he has traveled.
